Our Y has been asked by somebody to consider hosting an open water swim. Is there any info out there on how to direct/host/run an open water swim? Any guidelines that directors out there can suggest? How do I go about getting a USMS sanction for such an event?

Try contacting Faron Reed who went through this process last year to run a USMS sanctioned race at Millerton Lake. His company is also hosting the USMS One Mile championship race on May 11.
