Does anyone know if there are any organized swims on or around Martha's Vineyard? Does anyone have any experience swimming there - in the ponds or at the beaches?

I'd be interested too, out of curiosity. I've never been there (New Englander); have been to Nantucket, where the undertows on some beaches on the ocean side of the island can be prohibitive.
The NEM site identifies organized swimming by town; under MA I recognized Vineyard Haven as on the Vineyard.

there is a 5k in mashpee (johns pond) on the 20th of june.
i don't think the entry is on line yet but i will be sure to post it.
Reviving this old thread in anticipation of a visit this August. Would be grateful for any information about organized open water practices or races. Thanks!
