Well I hope I can mention this here. On the 1st October i wanted to complete a sponsored swim for charity. My son was diagnosed with congenital hip dyplasia by the Shriners Hospital St Louis. Well I trained through the summer to give this a shot. I put out a quick note I think early part of this year ref: 95 miles in ten days. Well I bailed on this idea for this year and commited three weeks ago to 20 miles in twenty hours. Well the wind on the lake of the Ozarks I believe had it in for me, Serious gusts out of the North / North West. The swim took aprx 14hours 30 minutes. Was it fun ? Yes the first three hours after that the wind pounded me to near submission. I would like to thank all who shared advice with me ref: training. You were invaluable. Anyway just wanted to post and say I had raised $6.500.00 for the Shriners Hospital for Children. It was worth every ground out stroke over the twenty miles. Would I do it again? Not for a while! But i'm up for hosting a 10mile swim, next year. If anyone can point me in the right direction for a fully sanctioned USMS open water event drop me a line to: trev1964@juno.com Cheers Trev
