Race season over. Still swimming OW?

I am curious: After race season is over, how many people keep swimming OW. Is there a water temperature cut off for you? The lakes here are still warm. Unfortunately the closest swimmable lake is 1 hour away, so I find myself heading back to the pool.

I took a dip in the Pacific today,..water temp between 60 and 65,,,HUGE WAVES,, I circled the Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach Ca....I had second thoughts after I got past the breakers and was about a hundered yards beyond the end of the pier when sets of 3 started coming in,..they were frightening,.. they were breaking at the end of the Pier, probably 10 foot faces...I had to swim full speed twice directly into 2 huge rouge waves inorder to climb the face before they broke. I did the back stroke in so that I could see and prepare for these waves. Fortunatley only one wave had its way with me. I`ll write more on my blog.
