Brigantine Bayfest Rainbow Challenge q's

Has anyone done either of these two swims. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  • Thank you--sort of in the area for both. I have a summer home on LBI. There are plenty of ocean swims around, but this year the ocean has been awful by us. I was looking to stay in the bay if possible. Thanks again for the info!

Has anyone done either of these two swims. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! yes to both. Rainbow Channel WAS one of the best courses around. However, it has been moved this year, so no idea about the quality of the course now. It is also under different management this year. If I had to guess, I'd bet it will still be worthwhile. 5 year age group awards. Bayfest - Well.... A decent event that starts and finishes at the Brigantine Elks Club. Held right alng side an area where they simultaneously have a large festival of some sort, so there are spectators at the start and finish. Course is pretty much out and back. I wouldn't kill myself to get there to do it, but if I was in the area anyway, I would. Not too many age groups for the awards as I recall. -LBJ
  • I thought about going up to the Rainbow Channel, but I decided to skip it. Maybe next year. I want to do the September Splash. You going, Leonard?
  • Nope, I did not do the Rainbow Challenge. Had some work to finish up--could not make it. Thanks all for the info.
  • Hey Swimmy - Not sure about SS. I think it is the same day as the Little Red Lighthouse and I'd like to do that if I can get in a bit of decent training in the next few weeks. I'd do LRL as a tourist swim, but if I can't make that I may make SS. Life has been "complicated" for a while now and getting to any race has been difficult. I am going to the "Beware of Barracuda" races tomorrow in Hazleton, PA. Did it last year and had a great time. Real low key. Highly recommended if you are up for a drive: www.ymca-ywca-of-hazleton.org/.../owsraceinfo.htm Will PM you if I decide to go to SS. Best, LBJ I think I will pass on Hazelton this year. I am thinking about a road trip to the beach for some recreational swimming next week. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
