Triathalon swim deaths 2008 rising. What is going on?

What is going on and why are autopsys coming back "cause of death unknown." The numbers are concerning, but the lack of explanation is really bothering me. It makes me feel as if something is being hidden. We have come a long way with CT scans, PET scans, x-rays, serum chemical analysis. I don't buy "cause of death unknown" with modern day capabilities.

It is the Boise 70.3, and this guy is probably in his mid to late 30's. I don't think he has any idea what he has signed himself up to do. I guess he'll be OK, but I still think participants should have to qualify. This is quite the touchy topic for as I have been a swimmer for life and a triatlete for 3 seasons. I am angered when I see this. ( i had 2 swims cancelled last year for 2' waves) People who think they are entitled to the oppurtunity to sign up for a race that thay have no business being in. I am fortunate enough to be first out of the water in all my tri's so I couldn't imagine the anxiety or wffort that hese people mustgo through. I will say that If I were to have the same issues on the bike or run, maybe I would reconsider. This guy is putting his life and the safety of others at risk. Someone needs to tell him he is making a mistake that could cost someone their life. Man this burns me up. I am trying to maintain reason without coming off elitist. However, waking up at 415 am 4 days a week to put my time in so I am not "that guy" give me a little bit of a right...? maybe?
