I'm looking for some good sources of information on swimming the Catalina Channel. Contact from anyone who has made that swim would be extremely helpful. I'm interested in making the swim late next summer.

There is no slow in distance swimming. Just going the distance. When the records of Catalina or the English Channel are posted it is not the slowest time, but the longest time that is noted.
