Hot one out there yesterday! 6:30 slower but 2 places better than last year. The top dogs were about 5 minutes slower than last year, so all things being equal, I guess I don't feel so bad! The last time the winner was slower than 1+30 was 2001. Do you know how good a beer tastes after cutting the grass on a hot day? Multiply that by 10! My support crew came through like champs. The first person I recognized coming up the chute was my 6'4" brother-in-law holding a beer over his head! Back to the drawing board to assess what the 'good's and others' are for training and preparation. Good job out there everyone!
  • Great day! First time for me so it was all new. Finished in the middle of the field.... Best memory was at 1.5 miles, the leader passed me like I was treading water. He was flying! 100 meters behind him were 3 chasers. I tried catching their wheels to draft them but there was just no way I could maintain that pace. That was inspiring though. Note to State of Maryland: There is a considerable amount of deisel pollution in the Chesapeake Bay....

This was my first time and had a blast. Here's a question - near the beginning of the course when the bridge is still curving from right to left, I noticed about 95% of the people were hugging the left span of the bridge. I stayed toward the right side/middle and had zero traffic near me, which I enjoyed. Were people on the left side because that is where the current was pushing them, or is it a more direct/fast route?
  • This is good to know. It was my first time also and I thought that if I stayed close to the right bridge it might help shield the current a bit, but I never got there, I swam diagonally for the first 3 miles trying not to get swept away. Amazingly I came in second in my age group (helps to be older!). I may try this again, it was really fun. Was it calmer than most years? Should I expect it to be harder in the future?
  • That has happened to other people. Go to the lost and found and just click through until you see it.

I got an email from Brightroom about a week ago stating that my pictures were ready....when I clicked on the link for my bib number, it was a picture of someone else. Same thing happened to a friend of mine. Has anyone else had this problem? I sent an email to Brightroom customer service but have not heard back.
  • My bib number AND name came up with someone else's picture......I tried the lost and found with no luck. I finally went thru ALL the photos and found a picture of me so I suspect I am under another name/bib. 2 of my friends are ok on the site, but the 4th member of our group we could not find at all in any picture. Some really nice pics! Oooh. I always hate my post race pictures. Not really my best look. Scary in fact!

Oooh. I always hate my post race pictures. Not really my best look. Scary in fact! This year was definitely my worst picture to date - I am like Swamp Thing coming out of the water.
