I signed up for my first open water swim, the Lowcountry Splash in Charleston SC. It is a 2.4 mile swim on May 31st. At this point I have been doing all of my swimming in the pool. will this hurt me leading up to the Splash?

for the low country splash, the swim is with the current which is pretty darn fast current. look out for the barge buoys and be careful to turn left, if i recall correctly and not head with the current downstream farther. they had to get some people who went past the turn point.
i would say the splash is not quite as difficult as other OW but you do need some practice on sighting and steering yourself w/ re: to the buoys and boats.
enjoy and may see you there! Unfortunately it 's the same weekend as the 3 mtn madness 100 mile ride in the mtns of NC, so i'll have to choose only one, darn :(
