USA Today has a nice article on Chloe Sutton and Open Water Swimming. Good to get the coverage for our sport. www.usatoday.com/.../2007-10-17-openwater-olympics_N.htm

  • I was surprised to read in the article that the openwater venue in Bejing will not be open water at all. The course will be in the same area as the crew events, pretty calm. Sorry, that doesn't cut it in my opinion. Kind of like running a marathon on a track. Not the place to debut a great sporting addition to Olympic competition. Fina rules on open water swimming championships actually say that the effects of large waves and currents are to be minimized. Not soemthing I care for, but according to those rules, the rowing basin is the perfect place for the race.
