I was surprised to read in the article that the openwater venue in Bejing will not be open water at all. The course will be in the same area as the crew events, pretty calm. Sorry, that doesn't cut it in my opinion. Kind of like running a marathon on a track. Not the place to debut a great sporting addition to Olympic competition.

however, it will still be nice to see how the strategy unfolds in the 30 seconds of coverage the networks are sure to give it.
