great south bay-long island

Anyone interested in swimming along the shore of great south bay? sayville/bayport area (but not across the ferry lane!) I've been swimming for a few weeks and its probably about 60-62 F right now. Let me know. i have some good safe routes and would like to start doing longer swims now that the water is warm (er). I only wish I could get out there to swim... I live in Philly and can't get away just now. Are you planning on doing this swim?: www.greatsouthbayswim.com I signed up, although I think it's a bit of a reach for me. I'm encouraged, however, by the hope that a following current offers. And the fact that I spent a lot of Augusts there as a kid, swimming in the bay, so I know pretty much how it behaves. ;) Is it only in the low 60s now? Not that that's so cold, just I remember it being closer to 70, but that was August/September. I have, however, done an ocean swim in mid-sixties temps w/ no wetsuit. Didn't bother me much... the day was so hot I was glad to have the cool water temp.
