I'm 59years old and getting ready for Sharkfest in June. I'm starting to develop some shoulder soreness from my efforts. I'm wondering if being a bit older that I might need more recovery between swims, I'm currently training every other day.

I`m 55 years old and am also training for the June 10 swim,...and yes,...I cannot swim everyday as I do not recover. My soreness expresses itself at nite,..while in bed,..sore shoulders,..but when I swim,..I experience no pain.
Sunday I swam around the Oceanside Pier ( california ) and felt absolutely fantastic in the water,..no pain,..no sluggishness,...limber,flexible, elastic. Monday, I swam a mile in 31 minutes in a 25 yard pool and felt great afterwards,..not winded. I did not swim on Tuesday and Tuesday night My body ached , I was sore. Tomorrow I`ll be "leaning into the harness" and will probably swim 1.5 miles in the pool.
The anticipation of the June 10 swim is giving me a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach, but I do believe that once I hit the water,..I`ll be fine.
