There is an excellent nugget of wisdom in this video. Namely: In order to train for a fast(er) mile, they (Terry & Dave) isolated both stroke length and stroke rate into separate components that can be easily and continuously measured in objective ways. Since distance/stroke * stoke/time = distance/time, one can train either or both of the left hand components in a finer grained, objective fashion than just "swim faster." The racing speed "comes along for the ride" as a side effect of this method. This is similar to what racewalkers do.

this has nothing to do with swimmign but I had a great day at work. the woman who has been mean to me and removing my notes from my case files got fired.
