A friend and I did not get picked in the Chesapeake Bay Swim lottery. We now need a new plan. Can anyone suggest other east coast events that are 3 or more miles in length? thanks

I'm a Lottery Loser, too. :dunno: I've done the bay for the last 3 years, and I had planned on it being an annual event. Oh well. This is what happens when a sport grows in popularity and some events are unable to scale up to meet increased demaind. Still, though, I'm pretty bummed about the whole thing.
I'm considering doing the Jim McDonnell 1 and 2 Mile Lake Swims organized by the Reston Masters (www.restonmasters.org/2miow.html). There is a 1 mile and 2 mile event, and it is possible to sign up for both and swim a total of 3 miles. May 27th in Reston.
I also sent an email to the DC Aquatics club for info on the Swim For Life, which has the 1,2,3,4 and 5 mile courses in mid-June, usually the week following the Bay Swim.
