has anyone attempted an English channel swim?
Looking for any info, links, people, possible to further training for a swimmer, who has done the one way.
Several of our masters have crossed the channel including USMS President Rob Copeland and our chair of the long distance committee Marcia Cleveland -see her website www.DoverSolo.com for great links and also check out her book "Dover Solo"

My brother Tom swam the Channel twice but never in an individual swim only in the Channell races with prize money. He did the Catalina straits twice and cross lake Ontario swim as individual swims. He considered the Individual swims as easy because he would only have to swim at his speed and not have to race in these for prize money.
I personally never did an idividual long distance swim but did many a marathon race competing against from 30 to 200 other swimmers. The longest swim I ever swam in was 66 miles, and never trained more than 9 miles to get ready for my racing season. Most training was 1hr, 2 hrs, 3hrs, I did 1 and 2 hrs swims twice a day sometimes.
Get ahold of Anne Cleveland with the LaJolla cove swim club She did a double crossing a couple of years ago. Grear lady with a lot of good advice and willing to share it all. Go to their website and contact them, they'll get you in touch with Anne.
