looks like most of us in south Florida are going to be without a pool for some time. Steve and I are planning to go to Miami Beach on Saturday for an open water swim. The beach is open, swimming is at your own risk, no lifeguards. We were wondering if anyone has been in the ocean since the storm and are there any unusual creatures.

Well, there are these strange lights under water from time to time...
We had a nice 2 mile swim Saturday on South Beach. 3 other Gold Coast Masters, Craig, Ricardo and Carlos, had the same idea, they were finished by the time we arrived. The water was murky, seems to be a lot of the Gulf water mixed in our usually pristine Atlantic, nothing stinging or biting.
Just saw this article in newspaper, maybe it would interest you?
BROWARD HEALTH
No swimming at beaches
Public health officials are asking people not to swim at any of the beaches in the county until further notice.
Broward has been plagued by sewage backing up into streets in some areas and other problems since Hurricane Wilma passed through last week.
''This is a cautionary advisory until appropriate testing of the water is completed with satisfactory results,'' the Broward County Health Department stated in a news release.

The water in Fort Myers was cloudy but otherwise everything was prefectly normal for the 10k. Not sure if the water clarity was related to the storm or to draining some inland lake.
