Hi,
I am thinking of investing in a wetsuit. Any wisdom out there? What style is the best...long, short, sleeves, no sleeves. Where is the best place to find one? Does wearing a wetsuit significantly improve your time?
Last year I did the 1 mile swim in the Chesapeake Bay. Most people had wetsuits. The water temperature was 72 degrees, and I was not cold at all even though I did not have a wetsuit.
Any thoughts?
Swimmy :)
Hi Swimmy,
Yes, I understand. There are a lot of open water opportunities around here. I am doing the Sunfest Swim in Ocean City, MD in September. I did it last year, and it was fun. You just swim parallel to the Boardwalk - 1K, 3K or 5K. It was a fun event. You might want to consider that one too.
I am also doing Big Shoulders in Chicago in September, and the Bonaire Ecoswim in November. Busy summer/fall training schedule, but I have been bitten by the OWS bug and I am hooked!
Good luck to you on Sunday! I did a practice swim at Sandy Point yesterday, and the water really wasn't that bad. I don't think it was any colder than Reston, and it is supposed to stay warm this week. I think it will be fine.
Take care!
Diana
