If you want to go further north, there are several open water swims in July. The Vancouver Open Water Society has a series. July 1st at Sasamat Lake, Port Moody is a 4km swim. I believe the 10km ocean swim is on July 17th. There are 2 others in the series.
On Vancouver Island there is a 10km open water swim in Lake Cowichan on July 18th, and a 5km, 3km 1.5km distance in Thetis Lake Victoria, Vancouver Island BC, (no wetsuits allowed for the 5km) on July 25th.
August 7th there is the Skaha LAke Ultra Swim (11.8km or 7.36miles) which is in Penticton, BC Canada. On August 13th is a 26km or 16.25 mile swim in Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island. All excellent swims.
I think there may also be a 5km swim in Lake Padden, Bellingham in late June.
