How clean is Lake Michigan where Big Shoulders is held? I wonder about the cleanliness of bodies of water that are near large cities. I remember seeing film of Lake Erie burning near Cleveland. And hear there are still recommendations limiting the amount of Great Lakes fish a person should consume. Chicago and a 3 mile swim sound cool, but what is the condition of Lake Michigan there?
We just had the 6-Mile Swim America in Chicago, Lake Michigan off of Ohio Street Beach.
Water is clear, the swimming contest is held on Ohio Street Beach by Navy Pier, there is a break water, which keeps most of the unwanted away. Most of the time the beaches are closed South of Ohio Street Beach.
