I've signed up to do my first open water swim in a nearby lake and got to thinking about the "entry".
What do open water swimmers wear getting into the water if it's a shore entry? Sandles that you would take off and throw back to the grass? Aqua socks?
I don't really relish the idea of walking into a central Texas lake bare foot over rocks, misc. sunken trash and fish hooks.

I've never seen anyone wear anything, but I'm not sure that there is any rule prohibiting wearing, say, sandals and then throwing them back on shore. Of course that assumes that you won't hit someone in the head with them.
I would definately make sure your tetanus booster is current, however.
