I have not tried this one, yet. But I did notice that Dave Parcells swam it last year. Dave is a great guy and an excellent open water/marathon swimmer. So he should be able to give you the low down on conditions as well as other tidbits.

After a month of deciding, I finally signed up for the swim. The longest I have done in the open water is 3 miles, although I am not so worried about the distance as the cold!! I would love to hear from you throughout the next few months with encouragement. It would be great to know others who are doing the swim before I get there.
fishoutawater, Good for you! I'm sending my application in this weekend. I've been undecided for a few reasons but know my training is right on. I have done one 1.7 bay swim, a number of 3.1 swims with buoys, a 10k ocean swim with kayak escort and more recently a 4.8 mile river swim with escort. I'm new to the 7.5 mile distance so we can encourage each other!
