One of the masters swimmers I train with went to Auburn,
this morning I asked him
"How do you get to Auburn?"
He said fly into Atlanta then drive 2 hours to Auburn.
He added if you do this, one thing you want to be aware of is
Atlanta is on Eastern Time & Auburn is on Central time
so when you drive from:
Atlanta to Auburn you subtract an hour &
Auburn to Atlanta you add an hour.
I aged up yesterday (40-44!)
In metric events, everyone "ages up" on January 1. Which means Janet Evans records are 40-44, even though she won't be 40 until later.

Entered today....with mixed feelings. My training isn't where it SHOULD be even though I have some time. I aged up yesterday (40-44!) and excited to make new rivals in the age group,but worried about how I'm gonna swim. Think I'm just gonna have fun with it. Its so hard to train LCM like I do for SCY with kids, hot weather, warm water, vacations, etc.
Also, if I get this job I interviewed for I certainly won't be able to take 3 days off right away most likely to go swim. So anyway, its a grab back of emotions for me right now. Trying to get back in the swing of training this week....got a good one tomorrow at 4400 LCM.

Interesting....I guess that is why they aged me up on the Go the Distance too!

50, 100, and 1500 Free, 200 Back, 50 and 200 Fly! my sixth event is the 50 Fly.

Sad I can't enter the 800 free - just can't afford one more hotel night & day off from work. It would work out better for me if all the fly was on Wed, so the 800 could be on Thursday!! 200 & 400 free, 100 & 200 Br & 200 IM - can I opt for the 2 Br to be my 6th even if I only enter 5, lol?

Ande - We have The PACIFIC Championships in Santa Cruz this weekend.
Plenty of time to "race-prep" for Nationals in the weeks between these 2 meets!
I entered Auburn (pretty far away from home) for the reason of not only being our Summer Nationals, but the great swimming tradition at Auburn University. I've heard a lot about the facility and it might be my only chance to swim there!
As a masters swimmer I have not been known as a "sprinter", but in the spirit of the Auburn Tigers, I entered both the 50 Back & 50 Free :)

I'm with you: it is fairly unusual for me to enter a 50 at nationals, but this time I'm doing two, back and fly (my first 50 fly LCM ever as a masters swimmer, I think: guaranteed masters PB!). Maybe the Auburn mojo will help us channel our inner sprinter.
I am getting psyched.I have a little over one week of hard training before beginning my taper on 7-15.I am really looking forward to swimming in that pool.:banana::banana:
I'm psyched! Two more weeks before taper. I know I'm faster... it's just a matter of finding out how much faster. What I'm really psyched about - not getting up at 4:00 AM to drive 30 min. to the 4:45 AM long course workout.
