2011 USMS Summer LCM Nationals in Auburn, AL

The 2011 USMS Summer LCM Nationals RESULTS Aug 3 - 6, 2011 at Auburn University in Auburn, AL MAP Order of Events Qualifying Times Aquatic Center Hotels Visitors Guide Auburn Masters Swim Team Auburn University Women's & Men's Swimming & Diving ARE you going? What suit are you going to rock in your races? TIPS One of the masters swimmers I train with went to Auburn, this morning I asked him "How do you get to Auburn?" He said fly into Atlanta then drive 2 hours to Auburn. He added if you do this, one thing you want to be aware of is Atlanta is on Eastern Time & Auburn is on Central time so when you drive from: Atlanta to Auburn you subtract an hour & Auburn to Atlanta you add an hour.
  • Auburn is very unlikely for me. I now realize I'm a total hypocrite. I couldn't understand why lots of the East Coast contingent didn't come to Mesa, but when Nationals is east of Mississippi I usually don't attend. Hypocrit! :) Auburn is not even on east coast time. I've booked a hotel and am going. Not perfect time for me with a two week vacation in late June, but I'm still excited. All 4 50s, 100 back, and 100 fly.
  • Auburn is very unlikely for me.It's probably unlikely for me, as well, but I'll blame the Arizona school system and USA-Swimming for my 100% lack of attendance thus far at any LCM Nationals. The timing for Nationals is almost always bad for me because it generally falls in the one week when my family can squeeze in a vacation. I am sooooo looking forward to 2012 as I'm 95% sure I'll be able to get to one of Worlds or Nationals -- that timing is so much better for me. Kirk -- you should consider coming down to Mission Viejo for the SPMA SW Zone meet the weekend of August 14th/15th (flyer not up yet, but will be here: www.spma.net). I'm considering that weekend, but my optimal weekend is the August 21st/22nd weekend. Anyone know of a great meet at a great LCM pool that weekend?
  • I'll be there! I already have a room. All backstroke events & maybe 200 & 400 IM & 400 free. Will finish back in the pack in all events & will have a great time doing it!
  • I'll be there! I already have a room. All backstroke events & maybe 200 & 400 IM & 400 free. Will finish back in the pack in all events & will have a great time doing it! Hey Swimosaur, I hope to meet you there, since I missed meeting you at the February Auburn meet! Are you going to the Athens meet, June 4? (:hijack:)
  • I'm gonna be there - and most likely the only one coming from Tallahassee - I look forward to meeting all you "forumites" and hope you will come find me & say hello! I will probably swim the 400, 800, 200 Br, maybe the 50 fly & 200 IM - I can't decide - what ever sounds EASIEST!! I'm all about seeing where the competition in my age group might let me place higher!!!
  • I would BUT I'm due for hip repair in the:cane::cane: end of july
  • ... Are you going to the Athens meet, June 4? Alas, no. It is a 4 1/2 hour drive, which is a little far for me for a one day meet. I look forward to meeting you in Auburn!
  • who all's going? NOT ME!! Work before playtime...gotta pay the bills. Summertime is my big overtime period. :2cents: I couldn't afford to put out hundreds more on my salary.
  • Kirk -- you should consider coming down to Mission Viejo for the SPMA SW Zone meet the weekend of August 14th/15th I did that meet a few years ago and it's a good one, but I'll probably do the Gil Young in Gresham, OR instead. It's pretty early (July 8-10), but might work out well because I can concentrate on pool swimming up till then and then shift my focus to open water after that weekend. Even with the high price of gas I think driving to the Portland area will be cheaper than flying to Orange County!
