  • Dwyer finished 9th in the 400 IM this morning (he went 3:45 with a seed time of 3:37) so he missed the finals unless someone scratches. I wonder if he's sick, or past his taper, or something else. Rumor has it that he is sick. Scott Tyler, who is at the meet said that he didn't look well in the 500 Free and he swam the 100 *** twice yesterday besides doing the 500 twice. I think a lot of people expected him to be close or a little slower than 3:37.75 but in no way did they expect him to swim 3:45.29 and not even make the top 8. It will be interesting if he gets mad and goes out and swims 3:40 or under in the consolations but odds are he won't. See if he can hold 9th place. The other disappointment was Austin Suroff in the 400 IM at 3:46.47. Last year he went 3:43.32 and that time would have seeded him 3rd today and he did that last year the day after he won the 200 IM. His 1:45.30 at the 200 mark was only 1.5 seconds off of what Michael Phelps was when he did the time of 3:36.26 and he just absolutely died on his last 100 Free with a split time of 56.75.
