Everyone in the press area in Omaha was transfixed to the race, even those who knew little about swimming. They knew what was on the line, and were more excited than I was by the finish. Mr. Commings did win one event at these Olympic Trials. On Monday he competed in the "Media Race" where members of the media get to swim a 50 while wearing fancy tech suits. The winner is determined by who comes closest to their seed time. Jeff won the race, swimming the 50 *** in a 29.6 time and coming within 0.14 seconds of his seed time. I got to see his prize, which was a VERY cool Omega watch that has the Olympic rings on it.
