  • The bad thing about this is you may well end up with a swimmer who makes the Olympic team and does not get to swim. That would suck. Most likely everyone who makes the team will swim, if only prelims. It is possible that in the Men’s 4X100 Free relay we take the top 6 men with 3 through 6 swimming in prelims, then 1 and 2 plus Phelps and Lochte swim the finals. Only in Breaststroke:shakeshead:… Who drops 6+ seconds in a 200? 106 - Brendan McHugh Qual time 2:20.02 Prelim 2:13.87 dropping 6.15 seconds! Which may be fast enough to make it back to semi’s. Who knows the highest seed to actually make the US Olympic Team?:dunno: Seeded #106 into Semi-finals 16th:bliss: There are always politics in sports and this is no different. However, Phelps clearly showed up in shape and ready to race. While I see the point that someone, placed sixth, might not get to swim, Phelps is a solid choice, if not THE solid choice. Now, my whole opinion on this will change entirely if he bumps one of our club's swimmers. Then you will see a flip flop and a total denial I ever said the above. Then I'd better capture your quote, before you have a chance to delete or edit it.
