it was a surprise that PVK missed the 200 fr
the mens 2 fr is going to be very exciting, as is the womens 2 free.
gotta think schmitt & franklin place 1 2 or 2 1 Vollmer 3rd
Donahue was a surprise
Hersey's 58.1 bodes well for her 2 FL
Larson is def one to watch
very happy that Hansen & shanteau 1 2
FYI Kitajima with an "A" at the end. Though some might call him Kick-a-jima for his gold medal stealing dolphin kicks in 2004.
(Could swimming benefit from underwater judging?)
Ledecky is a hot one on the scene. I mentioned her here when she broke 13/14 records in the 500 & 1000 & Wolf mentioned her at USMS in 2010 with Katie Ledecky dropped a 17:06 1650 at PVS Senior Champs yesterday. In Feb 2012 I also mentioned her in this thread The slope of her improvement is remarkable. She might be a year or 2 away from domination.
I hoped Janet Evans would go faster, wasn't she 4:17 unrested? Not likely to be a factor in the 800, Sutton & Ledecky should 1 2 the 800 under 8:25
Lochte scratching the 1 bk semi was a surprise, thought he'd do semi's but guess he didn't want to feel like he got hit by a semi. The men's 1 bk is very tight Grevers, Plummer, & Thoman plus Hesen not far behind. FYI Hesen went 44 in the 100 SCY bk
Ryan Murphy's 53.76 is remarkable, this Bolles school prodigy is only 16 & broke his own 54.9 NR He's even better in the 200 bk & could upset clary or phelps. NR Recs
Conger's 54.5 was excellent too
Between Franklin & Bootsma, Natalie Coughlin has some serious challengers in the 1 bk and might not make top 2. Her best shot is the the 1 free for the relay. Franklin has the womens 2 fr semi, which she should cruise and still make top 8 then after the mens 200 fr final she's back up for the womens 1 bk final. (Not much rest) The 2 free could hurt her 1 bk some. But it's not a surprise and she swam many back to back races at grand prixs
