  • By the way, there was somewhat of a flap last week when USA Swimming announced that due to the number of competitors at Trials they would not be running time trials. There must have been enough of a backlash that they partially reversed their decision and now are offering a limited number of time trials.Time Trials also give a swimmer an opportunity to get in a first swim before their event. For example Michael Branning and Faith Johnson are entered in the 50 Free in Trials, but they are also Time Trialing the 50 today. Side note – technically the time trials are a separate meet. They are held on a time available basis at all national championship and trial meets, under a separate sanction from the LSC. USA-S 207.10 I guess they figured that there would be available time.
