Ande,
For we competitively inexperienced folk, can you remind us what the purpose of a time trial is? I'm especially confused because these time trials all seem to be in events which are contested at the Trials.
Thx,
Skip
And just to elaborate beyond what ande said...when you spend all that time preparing for a meet, you want to get as much out of that taper as possible. They could swim in a meet the following week, but in theory they are at the fastest moment this week. The swimmers are trying for personal bests, other qualifying times (Nationals, Jr. Nats, US Open), or records (LSC, NAG, etc).
*edit* looks like Frank beat me out haha.
