  • Ande, For we competitively inexperienced folk, can you remind us what the purpose of a time trial is? I'm especially confused because these time trials all seem to be in events which are contested at the Trials. Thx, Skip Time Trials give swimmers a chance to swim an event or two they they didn't have OT cuts. Like my frends son made the 2 & 4 free but not the 1 so he's time trialing the 100 free. They usually happen 10 or 15 minutes after prelims. If you look at the heat sheet, many of the entry times end in .?0 like .50 or .00, meaning the person who entered them made up the time or guessed it. But OT entries have to be verified in the USA Swimming Swims Database and are exact times.
