  • Missy Franklin WSJ article online.wsj.com/.../SB10001424052970204257504577153054136465114.html A nice article...but I am really growing to hate the NCAA for its idiotic rules and stunning hypocrisy while colleges (and others) make huge piles of money from NCAA sports (mostly football and basketball, or course). www.theatlantic.com/.../ Two of the noble principles on which the NCAA justifies its existence—“amateurism” and the “student-athlete”—are cynical hoaxes, legalistic confections propagated by the universities so they can exploit the skills and fame of young athletes. I don't necessarily agree with everything in this article -- and I don't think that a university will gain a lot of money from Missy Franklin matriculating there -- but it is definitely worth a read. IMO Missy Frankly or anyone else should be able to make money while competing for whatever college team she likes. (Sorry for the hijack)
