  • There were qualifying times in 1956. I went on the USA-S website and searched for Olympic Trials 1956 and found a photocopy of the heat sheet. Very interesting. What surprised me most was how few events there were. There was a 200 ***, but no 100 ***. There was a 100 back, but no 200 back. I qualified in the 100 free, but did not go as I had just barely made the cut. Until I found the heat sheet, I wondered why I didn't qualify in the 100 *** as I always thought I was better in that event. Ironically, in my Masters career, 100 free is one of my worst events. Maybe some day I'll surprise myself. Betsy, that's great that you qualified. More than I have ever done. Do you have the link to the 1956 heat sheets? I have a friend who went then and would love to see them.
