Who swam? What were the splits? Shocked Australia wasn't in the mix

Team USA's Nathan Adrian (47.89), Michael Phelps (47.15) and Cullen Jones (47.60) delivered Ryan Lochte a lead on the anchor, with a 2:22.64 to 2:23.19 advantage, but Locthe's 47.74 was a full second behind Agnel's anchor, leaving the U.S. with a silver medal time of 3:10.38.
Grevers was faster than that in the morning, compared to Lochte's, um, has Ryan Lochte ever done a 100 freestyle before?
I'm glad to know that I wasn't the only one with feed problems. I first thought it was my firefox until I saw on twitter it was everyone.
ElaineK - your boy Cullen is swimming today!
It was a reasonable call, given that Lochte (defending world champion in the 200 free that he is) was more rested than Grevers and swam so well yesterday.
You mean in the 400 IM? Good point. That is indeed a sports event. Maybe LeBron should have anchored, though?
I called this weeks ago, that someone was going to have a great prelim swim and we would be stuck between kicking someone off the relay or not putting the fastest 4 out there. I thought Lochte would be faster because I believed everything about him not being close to fully tapered at trials and that he was going put on a performance for the ages like he said he was going to do. This is another reason why the trials need to be earlier. If everyone was fully tapered and had to earn their relay spot, the outcome of this race could have been different because the coaches would have had a lot better idea of who the best 4 were.

:cheerleader: I can't wait to watch it; I'll catch it on TV. At this point, I better stay off this thread in case there are any spoilers! :bolt:
But Lochte does so much strength training -- he flips tires, for gosh sakes! -- I just assumed he was a world-class sprinter. That's all it takes, right?
...? You think Ryan Lochte is strong?
