  • Overall, it was a touch schedule to pull off successfully. Well, at least, he got 2 more golds. I don't think that he needed to be knocked down. In swimming, sometimes it is not about who put the more work in. It just might be more about who is the freshest to put in the best performance. If he trains for Rio, he will have to tweak some things in his training. He could be too bulked up for swimming. Also, he have to drop an event or two. Or, Florida might to tweak their program. According to the latest reports, Lochte is going to move to Los Angeles after the Olympics so Florida will not have to do anything. That means he will swim for maybe Salo or Fullerton, if they still have a group. Tyler Clary is leaving that area and moving back to Michigan to train in Ann Arbor and finish his college degree at Univ. of Michigan. Both of Lochte and Clary were on the Today Show this morning and Ryan was questioned about how successful he felt he did at these Olympics. He said he was proud of his 5 medals and he worked real hard the last 4 years and said he though it was hard on him he plans on doing it again in preparation for Rio. Ryan was reminded that he told Matt Lauer that he said he wanted the headlines to read he took over the Olympics back 4 weeks ago after trials and Matt asked him if he think he accomplished that? He said he will let the press decide and did not answer the queston. When Tyler Clary was interviewed, he was just boasting with confidence. He said he will swim the next 4 years and has plans to swim in Rio and that this gold medal that he won is the answer to all of the hard work that he has put in the last 4 years and that can never be taken away from him. Nothing was asked or said about comments about Michael Phelps work ethic and I think that has now died. With Michael Phelps retiring you might think it would be easier for Ryan in the future but it will not be with the presence of Tyler Clary and that is the next big rivalry in swimming. They cross in 2 events (200 Back and 400 IM) and might cross in two others (200 IM and 200 Fly) but its highly unlikely in the 200 Fly because Lochte has not swam that event much but maybe the 200 IM but Clary has stayed away from that event and if that is on the Olympic program as a final on the same day, then he will not do the 200 IM. This kind of reminds me of when Ryan Lochte beat Aaron Peirsol in the 200 Back in 2007 and again in 2008 and this maybe a changing of the guard in this event. We will have to wait and see.
