  • Wondering what to do this weekend? Deck enter this meet if you haven't already! SEE YOU THERE!!!!! You can still enter the Republic of Texas part of the meet tomorrow. TECH SUITS ALLOWED. Winning times will most likely constitute Republic of Texas World Records (yes there can be yards world records - in the Republic of Texas). Report from today. As I stated in the top ten thread, although I would like to make top ten times, I usually judge my performance by whether I am able to beat chowmi. Today was the sanctioned part of the meet - no tech suits. First competition 50 fly. chowmi is a fast flyer and a great sprinter. Going into the race I would say advantage chowmi. But, she swam a reachable time for me. I swam a few heats later and though I didn't feel bad, I just wasn't able to go real fast. Round 1, chowmi. Second competition 100 fly. While I list this as "second," I should note that it is only "second" for me. While I have been resting and recovering, chowmi has swum several events including the 50 free a couple of minutes before the 100 fly. She is still breathing hard as she takes the blocks. I start to believe I can make this one. Her time is far from her best and I really start to believe. A few heats later I swim a pretty good time and beat her time. Round 2, no200fly. Final competition 100 IM. chowmi again starts before me and has a time that is reachable by me. I start a couple of heats later feeling confident. I get a good start but as I enter the water, my goggles come off and stop on my upper lip. I try to swim with them on, but they suction water into my mouth as I swim backstroke and I pull them off as I kick in on my bk/br turn and throw them on the deck. Needless to say Round 3, chowmi. As you can see, excitement abounds in Dallas - so dust off your tech suits and come down for the fastest non-sanctioned meet being held in Dallas tomorrow.
