The 2011 Go the Distance fitness event is now open. More than 2,200 members participated in 2010; why don't you join them for 2011?
Go The Distance is an online self-directed fitness program intended to encourage Masters swimmers to regularly exercise and track their progress. Swimmers may strive to reach a number of distance milestones and automatically receive recognition for their achievements and awards at certain milestones.
To get started, you will need to set up your FLOG (Fitness Log) on the USMS web site. Instructions can be found here:

Great tool for tracking everything. I ended up making my goal on Friday, the last day of the year, by 100 yards! (500 miles)!
You should have stopped at 3700. You still would have had a 40 yard cushion. :)
I dropped off a bit in December as well, but I usually do. Some of that has to do with the fact that I usually stay after practice and do extra kick sets since the noon practice is only an hour. During the last two weeks of December the kids practice throughout the day so it isn't as practical to stay in.
I've participated in GTD since 2008 and will definitely do it again in 2011. Same distance goal (750). For me that distance goal definitely forces consistency, but it's not such a large goal that I can't blow it by missing a day or two. And since I didn't swim competitively as a kid, I need that much yardage to stay at least marginally competitive in meets.
I do think that most people are honest with reporting their distances. It's pretty sad to think that people would overreport just for a $60 swimsuit.
