Last season I only did 5 but for 2011-2012 I am planning to do about 15 Championship Events thats all the Zone Meets, both Nationals, Open water, and some USA Grand Prix meets the last three is going to be the 2012 Olympic Swim Trials and 2012 USMS Summer Nationals and 2012 London!!! thats my future plans Hope to see you all at Nationals
Hey Brandon - good luck with the trials. :applaud::banana::bow:
Thank you. I got a lot of work to do to be ready... plus I just added four more meets this year..
I've done up to 7 meets a year, when I first started masters actually.
I've settled on one-two meets and one open water swim a year for varying reasons, partly that I don't want to spend my free time driving long distances, partly that some local meets are no longer held, etc.
2 that can leave me in the dust and about 4 that are starting to creap into my time ranges now. Should be an interesting year.
It's interesting with kids when they are developing so quickly, one year you are beating them easily and then they zoom past you. I remember at one meet I swam next to a kid on our team -- maybe 15yo -- in the 200 back and I edged him out at the end. I turned to him and said that I had to get my last licks in because I wouldn't be able to touch him in another year. (I was right, he crushes me now.)
Illinois state meet is april 7 -10 & Nationals are the 3rd week of april.
Nationals are actually the fourth week of April. I have just about the same schedule as you and I only plan to taper for Nationals. Maybe I'll rest a couple days for my LMSC championship meet, but I'll more or less swim through it and concentrate on Nationals.
This year at my LMSC champs (last week of March) I'm going to swim a bunch of off events, with a couple decent events in the mix too. 50, 100, 200 ***, 200 Back. 400 IM & 1000 are my "decent ones".
Saving my good stuff for Nats...100, 200 Fly, 200, 500 Free, 200 IM, 100 Back.
