ARE you going?
What suit you gonna rock in your races? TIPS
At this time last year that record was 1:14.73 -- Diann cut three seconds off at 2010 SCY nats, and three more seconds came off this year. A 6.56 second drop in a 100 in under 12 months. Amazing!
And Laura Val turns 60 next year(60 for LCM this year) so expect it to drop more.
Hmmm, I saw that 3/12/2011 record happen at the ORCA meet but I didn't know it was a record until now! Maybe they announced it after the fact and I didn't hear it.

Another 3 seconds, no doubt.
What's amazing is how many 60+ athletes are crashing the gates in this sport. There is a LOT of action in the 60+ age groups. It's fun to watch.
Kino is actually a super-fast pool. But those of you visiting from humid climates need to be extra mindful to stay hydrated if you are not accustomed to swimming in an arid climate. Drink plenty of water and electrolyte-laden drinks during the day, stay out of the sun as much as possible and you will perform your best. Good luck :applaud:
Looking at the men's 50 free times -
1) this is a very fast record, any others this fast?

That 18.67 was at Auburn last Feb (2010). I was there for that one. If you blinked you missed it!

The video of the second day was good. I saw the PNA hat. I would however like to see a few videos of races, start to finish. A little too much gabb in the 2nd day video.
FWIW, I had a great meet for me. I'm done -- beat my 100 br time by 5.5 seconds; my 100 IM time by almost 2 seconds, and my 50 br by about 1.3 seconds. Great pool. So many really fast swims. Fun to be here. And I wasn't last in anything(!)

Glad to hear you're having fun. At Portland LCM Nationals in 2008, it was 103 degrees on Friday and Saturday. I kept going back to my hotel room so I could recover between events. Not as much fun as I would have had if I had been on the pool deck watching races and meeting forumites. I did happen to witness Paul Smith's wardrobe malfunction, so I've got that going for me.
I was there for that and it was rough. I got a migraine on Sat after being in the heat and serving food at the Gold Medal Sponsorship area on Friday. Temps above 100+ only happen a few days of the summer in Portland. We happen to hit them.
