  • Are these one time discounts for new members or renewers, or are there discounts throughout the year? Anyhow, I just took a leap and decided to join. I had been going back and forth on this for a couple years, mainly because I felt that my swimming stunk and I wouldn't even be able to complete a Masters practice (or I would drive everyone else nuts). Then a funny thing happened about a month ago. After almost 3 years of not being able to go more than 3 laps at a time, and contemplating going to a pulmonologist to evaluate my pulmonary function, I decided to relax while swimming. I mean really relax, physically and mentally. I loosened my leg muscles and my arm muscles, I stopped pulling so hard but rather imagined myself gently floating over an anchored arm, and Bam! That day I swam 10 laps straight. Now I do 15 pretty easily and faster. So I'm ready to present myself to the swimming world without fear. I'm a bone fide USMS member and can call myself a swimmer. :applaud:
