Why wear your fins during pull sets?
We start off our pull sets wearing hand paddles, pull buoys, and fins.
When you wear fins during pull sets you can sense when your body gets out of line. Because the fins extend your legs, any deviation from being directly on line will be more easily felt in your toes.
Example: if you are crossing over the center line with your right arm (sweeping) you will be moving your upper body towards the right, off line. That is hard to feel in your upper body, but when you do this with fins on during a pull set, you will feel your feet off center to the left. Hand paddles accentuate any deviation.

I always do. I have never liked using a bouy and I always mess my shoulders up when I use paddles....so I always use fins just to keep my feet up, but I don't kick.
I like wearing fins on pull sets. I don't kick (well, maybe on turns) - I just use them to help my feet plane to get my body in alignment. The fins also make great "rudders" so I can tell if I'm fishtailing. They were very helpful with backstroke pull to help me roll deep enough. A pull-buoy also hurts my lower back when I pull fly or *** but the fins don't cause my back to arch so much when breathing.
