Question after first meet back

Swam in my first meet this past weekend in over 20 yrs and have a question. I swam with my "jammer" suit I practice in, just an everyday Tyr suit, feels pretty tight normally, but during my races this weekend I could feel it "rippling" against my thighs, obviously not tight enough. I don't want it to turn into a "tech suit" thread, but wondered what kind of suit I should get. I have about a 33 inch waist, and my suit it a size 34. What size should I buy? Gonna have to do it over the net because there are no swim stores around... Thanks!!! I had a great time at the meet by the way!
  • You might be in a nylon/lycra suit that gets loose. Try a polyester suit for meets.
  • Being a woman, I can't really speak to your jammers question. However, since you have to buy online, I would highly recommend swimoutlet.com. They are great about exchanging suits if you buy the wrong size - or if anything else goes wrong. I've always had great luck with them and their prices are pretty good too!
  • If you don't want to go the tech suit route, go down a suit size to 32 and try a Speedo Endurance jammer. They don't really have compression in the way the tech suits do, but the fabric is less stretchy than other typical Lycra suits in the same price range. I find all of the "normal" lycra suits (e.g., Aquablade, Fusion 2) too stretchy and not at all durable, even when just used for competition. FYI: I'm a 34" waist and 32" suits seem good. If you do want to step up to a tech suit, the TYR Tracer Light (www.swimoutlet.com/ProductDetails.asp is a great one -- you can usually find them around $100 and they have better durability than most tech suits.
  • If you are getting a Blue-70 I'd say 32 would probably be fine.Speedo or TYR probably 30,but it also depends on other measurements besides waist( such as rear and legs) so YMMV.swimoutlet.com is great at returns so don't worry.
  • I wear an Endurance 34 jammerfor practice, and my meet suit is an Aquablade 32, which fits great and is noticeably faster.

Sorry, I think I DO want a tech suit, I just don't THIS THREAD to turn into a debate about whether the TECH SUIT RULES are correct or not. I DO want tech suit advice! Thanks!
  • I DO want tech suit advice!TYR Tracer Light ... its positioned as a gateway drug to the $200+ techish jammers, but I think you can stop there.
  • Both of the above suits are a good fit & tech enough for now.
  • I've written much about this get a jammer it should be fairly tight probably a size 32 or 30 here's a swim faster faster tip on 2010 Legal Suits I think the SPEEDO PRO is a great mix of affordable & fast.
