Bronchospasm

Final report in from my pulmonologist. I do have exercise induced bronchospams (asthma). I had a better workout today but still a long way to go. Any one out there with the same problem? How long did you have to take the cortisone inhailer before you noticed a significant difference?

  • The inhaled steroids usually take about 10 days or so to get up to speed. Pre-treatment with albuterol usually helps immediately -- many people need both. My observation has been that inhaler technique has a huge impact on success of treatment. If someone puts a metered dose inhaler (pressurized canister) directly in his/her mouth and puffs, then most of the medicine is wasted.
