another question about fins

Thanks for the greater detail on your testing. I haven't given up after the first dozen or so pairs of fins I have purchased in my life! Most seem better suited for straight shaped feet with flatter arches, rather than fin shaped feet with high arches though. Good suggestion about the booties. I have some but I have mostly used them in Hawaii for lava walking before snorkeling/swimming.

I was one of the testers and I have VERY wide (D to E) feet. I didn't have any problems with any of the fins being too narrow. Look at the sizing charts and if you're near the top of a size range, you might want to go to the next larger size. I have three pairs of fins sitting here... Here is how each of them fit on me. My shoe size is about a Women's size 7, which is equivalent to a men's 5-1/2. Club Swim: The fin is marked with Men's 3-5 and Women's 5-7, so I'm at the top of the size range. It is wide enough but snug. Some days one of my big toes rubs a little bit. Zoomers Blue: Size "D", which is Men's 5-7 and Women's 6-8. These are very snug. This may be partly due to the fact that it is a stiffer fin. I also have high arches and these seem to have a "shorter" foot pocket. I have owned several pairs of blue Zoomers over the years and for some reason this pair seems tighter than any of my previous pairs. (I do think that my feet have grown a little bit over the years.) TYR EBP Burner: Size "S", which is Men's 5-7. These are much looser than the Zoomers. The foot pocket is very soft and flexible. The foot pocket is also longer than the Zoomers, even though they're theoretically the same size range as the Zoomers. Conclusion: Don't give up if the first pair of fins you buy doesn't fit quite right. Either go up a size or try a different style or brand. The other thing we learned from the testing was that several manufacturers make "fin socks." Speedo sent us a few pairs along with their test fins. The fin socks are made of neoprene (wetsuit material) and they worked great if a pair of fins was a little too big. So you could always go up a size and then wear them with fin socks.

I have very wide balls of the feet but narrow heels. I wear Speedo long fins as well as Zoomers. If you don't want to spend the money on the fin socks that they sell, just use a pair of regular socks. They work just as well and are a lot cheaper.
