I heard through a friend on Facebook, who has connections to Conventionites, that the full body suits may be crawling out of their graves to stalk the earth once more?
Rumor has it that a fringe group from California has proposed this, and that the swim suit manufacturers smell money in the water, and that the USMS politboro smells money in the feverish sweat of the swim suit manufacturers.
Is any of this true?
Discuss amongst yourselves in as lively and as incendiary a way as possible!
A rule change regarding full body suits is supposed to be or already has been presented to the House of Delegates. Don't know what if any decision has been made. If you scroll down in the link below to #102.14.4 you will see the proposal as it was presented.

I never thought I would say this, but I am actually glad they have staked the heart of the full body suit. I think they need to do it for women, too, and my ongoing research into a viable replacement for the cheating lite suits the distaff gender continues to enjoy (soon, I hope, to be replaced by the Jim Thornton Jammers-'n-Pasties FINA-legal Suits for Wet Chicks TM) will now proceed with even more R&D fervor than ever, now that the uncertainty has been cleared up.
No, neither Pacific proposal came close to passing. No one even spoke out in its favor when it was on the floor for a vote. Dead, dead, dead for now. Also true for open water (sort of...they did things in a more complicated way with their categories).
IMO, FINA would have to reverse course for a comeback. No danger in that, right? :bolt:

:applaud: Now can we let this issue die and let Jim get back to his DIEt..
They should open the vote up to the entire body of USMS swimmers. A swimmer should get the # of votes equal to the amount of meets they participated in last year. Nationals can equal a triple (or double) vote.
I know lots of people opposed to hi-tech suits who probably haven't been in a meet for 30 years. It would be interesting to see what the people who really swim in the meets think. ?????!????!???!??!?! just saying :)
OW is probably a whole different beast!

And here we go again!

Apologies. It is just that this suggestion's been made multiple times in some form or another previously.
okay, sure. I really don't care either way although I love my nero.
I think it's so funny that so many people who really don't even swim in meets care so much about this issue. Just an observation from a an unfluential and unimportant member of the USMS>
I will leave the rule-making to those of you who have a voice.
