I'm having trouble doing flip turns, and i have realized that it seems to be a problem in my nose. I'm looking for advice, maybe this is common? anyhow, when I try to do flip turns, I find I cannot breathe out my nose at all, or create any type of pressure gradient that keeps water from driving up my nose and into my sinuses, which hurts like anything and breaks my rhythm. I can't handle the nose clips I've tried in the past, they fall of, they hurt, and they make me claustrophobic. I've been to the doctor, and we've ruled out deviated septum, etc., but it seems anatomical somehow, and related to the added pressure of water. She was going to check with some sports medicine people, and I thought I'd check here. Any suggestions?

If you are just learning how to do flipturns, break it up into several steps.
Get comfortable to doing bobs and blowing bubbles underwater first.
Then try doing handstands and somersaults in water deep enough where you won't bump your head.
Finally work on the full flipturn.
If you have too many new skills to work on at the same time, you may have too many things to concentrate on.
