I have seen guys using jammers mostly now. However, there were a good number of swimmers in briefs at Santa Clara. I'm leaning toward getting one for competition. I have square suits that I use for practice.
Does it matter what strokes I do?

Why wear a drag suit at a meet? I don't get it.
We used to wear drag suits during warmups...but not in a race.
I sorta like the squares. Remind me of circa early 1960's James Bond look.
jammers for taper meets and briefs for non-taper meets. Briefs are just more comfortable.
While I find that to be true as well, my main reason for wearing briefs at non-taper meets is just to save wear on the (more-expensive) jammers.
I get what everyone is saying about compression. But I've switched between briefs and jammers in a prelim/final meet, and the difference in performance was small (and very possibly nonexistent). YMMV.
I prefer jammers over briefs. I love the TYR C series jammers. They are durable, don't take a lot of effort to get on and they aren't restictive on kicking for fly, back, free.
Jammers are way better than briefs, they offer some compression.
Speedo PRO is a great choice.
I've also worn the B70 jammer

If you’re looking for some real compression, have you tried a Python skin jammer? :bump:

Indeed. However, to pull it off, one must hold one's gut in check for the full "look."

Because I'm not rested for those meets, don't care about my time and am simply focused on "racing" - swimming as fast as possible at a given point in the training cycle.

I don't understand how a drag suit meshes with that statement. A practice suit? sure. A drag suit? Nope.
