I am attending the Pan-Pacs next week and I would love to get in some swimming of my own. I know NOVA has a great program there for a pool possibility. Can anyone recommend good options for ocean swims? Is the Corona Del Mar State Beach as good as any? Thanks.
Am I thinking of La Jolla Shores? There were no attacks in the cove, but I thought I remembered hearing about attacks in the waters out from the cove. I lived in San Diego from 1984 - 2004 and remembered hearing about attacks during that period and after I left. Didn't a swimmer die from an attack? Perhaps it was north of the cove...

Very random and unusual. A single attack.
Pretty sure the locals have appreciated the scare media in a weird way. The beaches were beginning to get very crowded in the summer!
La Jolla Shores is across from La Jolla Cove. Lots of rays and sand sharks there.
But no worries for swimmers up on the surface.
