Masters Teams in NYC

Hello All, I just moved to New York City and I was wondering if any of you could suggest some high quality masters teams here in the city. Much appreciated.
  • Welcome to the city Jeremy! As you can see from Quicksilver's link, there are a number of teams to choose from. It's hard to give advice on which will be best for you--a lot depends on where you live and work, and which locations and workout times will be most convenient given your commute. Many city teams let you work out with them once or twice (or even up to a week) for free. There's no harm in giving several teams a try before you make up your mind. Do keep in mind that many pools in the city shut down during the last few weeks of August. Emailing a coach or contact person to confirm a workout is on is probably wise during the next month or so, even if the team's website says you can just show up. (I currently swim for Asphalt Green, and very happily so, but have been with several teams in the city over the past decade and a half. There are many places where you'll find good coaching and supportive teammates!) Hope to see you at some local meets this fall!

Thank you for referring to me as Batman rather than Robin. East End Rogues indeed.
  • There's actually a ton of LMSCs in New York: www.usms.org/.../placswimform.php
  • The Red Tide, AGUA, and BearCat, are well established clubs, and they attend most every Metro sanctioned meet. Then there are these unattatched east end rogues that show up and give established teams a real beat down for laughs. Primarily back and free specialists, but are no stranger to IM's either.
  • Apparently LMSC does not stand for "Local Masters Swim Club".... However that doesn't change the fact that there are lots of clubs there. Play me out Johnny.....
