Thanks to the efforts of the USMS History & Archives Committee, and the Records & Tabulation Committee, the USMS Top Ten listings now go back to 1971. John Bauman of Wisconsin and Barbara Dunbar of San Diego led the effort to collect and organize the old Top Ten listings. :cheerleader:
The Top Ten searchable database can be found here: http://www.usms.org/comp/tt/
Some of our active Forumites can be found in these listings. For example, search on Allen Stark's name and you'll see that he first made the USMS Top Ten as a 25-year-old in 1974. Rich Abrahams first appears in 1975, as a 30-year-old.
In terms of sheer numbers, it's hard to imagine anyone with more Top Ten swims than June Krauser. Since 1972 June has amassed a total of 1,372 individual Top Ten swims!
I'd also add Jim Matysek as someone to thank, though the amount of work that John and Barbara had to do is difficult to imagine.
If you see obvious/verifiable errors in individual results, please PM me.
Very cool! :applaud:
And this may be a separate topic, but how far back do Individual Results from Competitions go? Is this a separate database? I can find some of my 1996 swims if I search the top 10, but not if I search the Individual Results.

Different database: those come from the Meet Results Database. The nice thing is that it is NOT just for Top 10 results. But the swims are much newer.
Here is the list of meets included:

The results from these meets are what feed into "Current Event Rankings."

Just checked my results and didn't see any from my earliest years in Masters. Then I remembered I had a different name back then due to a youthful marriage. My times show up under that name. I emailed Mary Beth and hope that the times can be listed together under my current name. There may be others out there who have had different names for one reason or another.
Thank You,Thank You,Thank You.That is so fabulous.Looking back at that brings back fond(& not so fond) memories.:banana::banana:
Alan,
I couldn't agree more with your sentiments. I loved seeing names long forgotten and those still active. What was fun was looking up the top times in my current age group from my first year swimming masters (1975) and being amazed at how much all the times, from first through tenth, have improved since then. And it ain't just the suits folks. For example, in the 65+ age group 1:39.99 won the men's 100 fly and there weren't even 10 people who swam it, only seven (2:41). I'm afraid I could waste many hours perusing this data base.
Thank you to all those who put in all the hard work.
